We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your family. At this time of the year we do have so much to be thankful for. And now the Advent season is upon us. Please remind your children that Advent is a time to prepare ourselves for Jesus' birth. It is a time to think about giving to others. The first graders are being asked to donate white sugar, salt, or flour for the "Spirit of Christmas" dinner that is held every year. Bags of food are distributed to those in need.
Thursday, December 4th the first graders will be attending the Nutcracker Ballet. Please make sure your child has his/her permission slip in. We will be contacting our drivers on Monday.
Friday, December 5 is a minimum day with dismissal at 12:30. Mrs. Mills' class is in charge of preparing the Monday, December 8th Mass in honor of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. If your child brings home a reading please have him/her practice it.
In Language Arts we continue to work on blends, digraphs, the ed, ing, s endings, possessives, short a,e,i, and o vowel sounds, categories, sequencing, cause and effect, main idea, comprehension and vocabulary. In Math we will be starting place value but we will continue giving the daily timed addition and subtraction math tests. In Social Studies we are finishing up our Native American Unit this week. In Science we continue to study the weather and the four seasons. In P.E. we are working on a bean bag unit. In Religion we will start studying about the season of Advent.
