Greetings!
Thank you to all of you that helped drive to the Pumpkin Patch and to those of you who provided the snacks. It was a great afternoon and the children had fun. We are into Drug-Free week. You will notice that the doors of all the classrooms have been decorated in that theme.
On Friday the students are allowed to wear their costume to school. A notice went home about the costume contest. There is also a pumpkin carving contest and a note went home about that. So we do have a busy week. On Saturday evening is the Halloween Carnival at school. I hope to see all of you there.
In Language Arts we continue to review sequencing, cause and effect, categories, s, ed and ing endings, plurals, possessives, contractions, compound words, comprehension, short a and i and I am introducing short o this week. I have been testing your children on vocabulary. Hopefully I will be finished this week. In math we are finishing up subtraction. In Science we are finishing up the ecosystem and in social studies we are beginning our Native American unit. In Religion we are starting our saint book and in P.E. we are jump roping. As you can see we are busy.
I am hoping you all had your children become familiar with First In Math as they will begin doing that in their computer lab.

I am hoping you all had a great weekend. I did. I went to a wedding and then helped celebrate my aunt's 90th birthday. She still lives alone and is in good health. If you have read this blog have your child write on a piece of paper what a pumpkin becomes when you carve it out. Another THANK YOU to all of you that read my blog. Have a great week. GOD LOVES YOU!

Thank you to all of you who drove to The Hampshire and The Courtyard. It was much appreciated. The children did great with their songs. This week we are off to the Pumpkin Patch on Thursday afternoon at 12:30. All of you that have signed up to drive will be used to drive. Please be at school by 12:30. We will be returning by 2:30. Please show your child how to log on for First In Math. In another week they will be playing First In Math in their computer class. Therefore they need to know how to log on and play the game. Thank you to all who have been playing the game.
Tuesday afternoon is the Catalog Sale awards assembly. It will be held at 1:45. On Friday the first grade is in charge of lunches for St. Vincents. A decorated paper bag will come home on Thursday. Please fill it with a lunch and return. Thank you.

OCTOBER 12-OCTOBER 16
Greetings!
It is hard to believe that the first quarter is over with already. Report cards will be sent home on Friday. They are to be signed and returned. Now is a good time to remind your child to always put forth their best effort and to remember the classroom and playground rules.
On Friday the first graders will be going to The Hampshire and The Courtyard for prayer services. Half of the children will be going to The Hampshire and the other half will be going to The Courtyard. Mrs. Blackburn and Mrs. Fister will be accompanying one group and I will be with the other. I will be using all parents who said they could drive. Please remember to have all driving information in the office no later than Wednesday. Some of you do not have the needed forms in the office. Thank you for your cooperation.
Friday, October 16, is the last day to wear shorts.

OCTOBER 5-OCTOBER 9
Greetings!
This will be a short week. There will be no school on Friday as the teachers have a Diocesan in service in Visalia. As a result, the spelling words will be going home on Monday. The practice test will be on Wednesday and the final test on Thursday. This Friday will be the end of the quarter and report cards will be going out on October 16. How the time has gone by!
Thank you to all who paid for First In Math. It is greatly appreciated.
As we move along, please remember how important the vocabulary words are. With a new group of words each week it is extremely important that your child review the words each night. Flashcards are a great way to do this. I will be giving a vocabulary word test within the next several weeks. Also keep working on addition math facts up to 10.
Thank you to all that have offered to drive for the service projects. Those of you who offered to drive on Oct 16th, know that I will be using all of you. Hopefully you have all attended the Safe Environment Training and that you have been fingerprinted and you have all your driving information on file in the office.
