AUGUST 31-SEPTEMBER 4

Greetings! Your children have had a good week and they thoroughly enjoyed "free dress", the Student Council assembly, the catalog kick-off, and the raffle drawing for the lunch with Lancey. A kindergarten student won the lunch with Lancey.

Friday is an All-School Mass day. Remember that your child may not wear shorts on a mass day. Every Friday the Student Council will be selling healthy snacks at the morning recess. Your child is in charge of their own money. Just a reminder: talk to your children about eating their own snack. Sometimes children want to share which is great. But there is a problem: there is never enough to go around to all of the children. Then we have hurt feelings. Thank you.

Usually on Monday your child will be bringing home a list of new vocabulary words.
They are always to be signed and returned the next day. Please look for them. This Tuesday your child will be bringing home a math homework paper. Please go over the directions with your child and help them if needed. Every week your child will be bringing home a little paperback reader. They are to read this story to an adult and the reader is always to be returned the following day. For some I realize the reading might be very easy. That is good. It is always good to be reading stories that are easier in order to increase reading fluency.

I appreciate the fact that some of you have made word cards with 3x5 cards. Please continue to work on them at home. It will greatly help your child. If you have read this blog please have your child bring in an orange for their teacher. Last week thank you for all the apples. I cut them up and we ate them for snack. Thank you. Have a great week. GOD LOVES YOU!

AUGUST 24-AUGUST 28

Greetings!

We have completed the first week of school. Your children seem to be getting into the swing of things. They are doing well writing in their planner. I am hoping you all read my letter that went home on Friday with their packet of work. It is very important that you check your child's home folder and planner, sign it and return it the following day. I also use the planner to let you know about lunch tickets and milk tickets. Oftentimes I will jot you a note to give you a "heads up" on behavior. I have found this works well. Feel free to respond back.

In Reading your child should be reading the vocabulary words on a nightly basis. They should also be reading color words and the number words that went home on the math paper. We will be starting our first little reader next week. Knowing those vocabulary words will be a big help. Every week they will be receiving a new list of vocabulary words. I will be putting those words up on the blog the first week in September.

Some of your children do not have an 8-pack of color crayons. This is a necessary item. Please make sure they have them. We do many color coded papers and I want them to use the correct color crayon.

If your child brings $1.00 on Friday they may have free dress. The money will go to the SPCA in honor of Lancey's birthday. Your child may bring their money in prior to Friday as I may collect it.

Thank you for all of your cooperation. If you have read this blog have your child bring Mrs. Mills an apple. Thanks. GOD LOVES YOU!

AUGUST 17-AUGUST 21

WELCOME TO A NEW SCHOOL YEAR. I HAD A GREAT SUMMER AND I AM HOPING YOU DID TOO. I AM REALLY EXCITED ABOUT TEACHING YOUR CHILDREN THIS YEAR.

School starts at 8:00. Mass on Monday is at 8:30. Your child is to be in full uniform. Remember no shorts for mass. Remind your children about behavior at mass. Dismissal on Monday is at 12:30. Make sure your child knows where they are to picked up. I will be helping them get to where they need to be.

I would like all school supplies as soon as possible. We will start using the planners on Tuesday. I will be sending home a short letter on Monday and I will also be sending home the playground rules and the detention slip. Please go over both sides with your child and make them aware of the consequences. The slips need to be signed and returned. I would like them all back by Friday.

There will be many new procedures in the first grade, please do not be overwhelmed. It does all work out.

I will see you all on Monday. GOD LOVES YOU!
