OCTOBER 19-OCTOBER 23

Greetings!

Thank you to all of you who drove to The Hampshire and The Courtyard. It was much appreciated. The children did great with their songs. This week we are off to the Pumpkin Patch on Thursday afternoon at 12:30. All of you that have signed up to drive will be used to drive. Please be at school by 12:30. We will be returning by 2:30. I will jot you a note in your child's planner.

Please show your child how to log on for First In Math. In another week they will be playing First In Math in their computer class. Therefore they need to know how to log on and play the game. Thank you to all who have been playing the game.

Tuesday afternoon is the Catalog Sale awards assembly. It will be held at 1:45. On Friday the first grade is in charge of lunches for St. Vincents. A decorated paper bag will come home on Thursday. Please fill it with a lunch and return. Thank you.

In Language Arts your child is learning about contractions, short a and short i, endings of s, ed, and ing, cause and effect, conclusions, categories, sequencing and comprehension. In Social Studies we are beginning a Native American unit. In Science we are finishing up the ecosystem. In Religion we will be learning about saints and will be making a saint book. In P.E. we are starting a jump rope unit. As you can see we are busy.

The first grade's service project for the year is helping the homeless. More information will follow.

Thank you for being so conscientious in reading and signing the planners. I do so appreciate it.
