WEEK 3 AUGUST 27-AUGUST 31

The first graders are now into their third week of school. Please continue to have your child review vocabulary words every night. We realize some of the readers that come home are easily read by your child. That is good. It gives them confidence in their reading ability. Please feel free to have them read other books at home. We will be starting to go to the library this week. Your child will be selecting 2 books to keep in their desk for the week. They are encouraged to take them out and read them when their daily work is complete.

The theme for OLM's school year is CELEBRATE WHAT'S RIGHT WITH THE WORLD. What a great concept! The entire school is focusing in on the Liturgical calender and the seasons of the Church. We are also concentrating on Handwriting. Each class is working on it daily in the classroom. Continue to have your child practice printing at home.

A few reminders:

If you get to school before the 7:50 bell please go to the auditorium. There is adult supervision and you are free to wait inside with your child if you choose.

If your child has homework to correct, please make sure it is returned the following day with the original worksheet.

If your child is absent please make sure they go to the office to get an admittance slip. Likewise, if your child is leaving school earlier than 2:30, please go to the office for an early dismissal slip.

If you have read this blog, please send an orange to school with your child. The children loved eating the apples. Have a great week and remember: GOD LOVES YOU!
